Proton Pump Inhibitor Lien Resolution

Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) reduce acid production by blocking the enzymes the stomach wall responsible for acid-related conditions such as ulcers, esophageal duodenal and stomach ulcers, NSAID-associated ulcers, Gastroesophageal reflux diseases (GERD) and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. PPIs have been linked to serious injuries including chronic kidney disease, kidney failure, interstitial nephritis, and other debilitating consequences that may result in hospitalization or death. In a 2016 study, those taking PPIs were 20 to 50 percent more likely to develop chronic kidney disease compared to those who did not take these medications. Plaintiffs affected by these medicines are men and women of all ages. All healthcare lien-types may be encountered in this litigation.

The first is for in-house departments not only to be vastly more efficient in their deployment of the traditional combination of internal labour and external law firms, but also to ensure that work is undertaken, where appropriate, by less costly suppliers of legal services, such as legal process outsourcers and paralegals.
